Domusa Living welcomes Vastbouw Nederland as strategic shareholder for the Essen-Freisenbruch development

Krefeld / Essen, 07-07-2026

Domusa Living has welcomed Vastbouw Nederland as a strategic shareholder in the project company responsible for the development of the Seniorenresidenz am Bürgerpark in Essen-Freisenbruch. The transaction has been completed and formally executed.

This partnership strengthens the development of a residential concept that responds to the growing demand for high-quality senior living in Germany. By combining Domusa Living’s expertise in senior living with Vastbouw’s extensive experience in real estate development and construction, both companies are creating an integrated approach covering development, engineering and project delivery.

A shared approach

At Domusa Living, we develop residential environments where independent living, services and care come together. Vastbouw Nederland contributes decades of experience in project development, engineering, construction management and the realization of large-scale residential projects.

Bringing these disciplines together creates a project organization in which quality, planning and execution are aligned throughout every stage of the development process.

For our investors, this means:

  • a stronger project organization;
  • more efficient decision-making;
  • improved planning and cost control;
  • an integrated approach from development through completion.

The Essen-Freisenbruch project

The project transforms a former care facility on Minnesängerstraße in Essen into a modern senior living campus featuring:

  • approximately 164 serviced apartments;
  • assisted living residences;
  • outpatient care homes;
  • complementary healthcare and wellness facilities.

Following renovation, the building will meet the KfW 40 EE standard, making it one of Germany’s most energy-efficient renovated care facilities.

A growing market

Demand for modern senior housing continues to increase as demographic developments and longer life expectancy create a growing need for residential concepts that combine independent living with care and support.

The Essen development responds directly to this trend with a long-term vision focused on quality, sustainability and quality of life.

Statement from Wim Schreuder, Founder & CEO of Domusa Living

With Vastbouw, we are welcoming a partner with extensive experience in delivering complex real estate developments. By combining our expertise in senior living with their development and construction capabilities, we are strengthening not only this project, but also creating a solid foundation for future developments.

Wim Schreuder

Looking ahead

This partnership marks the next phase in the growth of Domusa Living’s project portfolio in Germany.
Beyond the Essen development, both companies see this collaboration as the foundation for future projects focused on sustainable, high-quality senior living.
